              Stern eagle

My son visits Uruguay every year with his wife and family. The stern eagle from the ship (salvaged a few years ago) is not available for public view at all. It is underground and the wreath and swastica is covered. It is being stored and restored for possible viewing later. My son is well connected to the military and no one could get him in even for a quick peek. There is a large German population in Uruguay to this day.

Guy who took this was an armorer on HMS Cumberland. Date on the reverse was written a long while after the war & is slightly out. More info as i get it from the son & grandson. More pics too,if i'm lucky. Stewy
