I have been working on getting this group for quite a while and finally was able to get it. The soldier was in Pz Jäger 33 in Afrika, wounded and stayed with the Panzer Jäger, fighting to the end and killed in action by French troops on 21 April, 1945 on the Schloßplatz. Hit brother Alfred was killed one day earlier on 20 April, 1945 in Crailsheim. Leiers Soldbuch and diary were taken from the body and tagged. This was later sent to a protestant ministry in Mannheim requesting that his Soldbuch be passed on to his wife together with information on place and time of death. The Soldbuch was in a protective cover and appears to have been hit by a bullet or fragment as it is completely penetrated.
here is the letter from the city of Stuttgart to the ministry and help service for missing soldiers, requesting that they contact the widow.
I was no sure as to whether this should be in the Soldbuch or photos and paper section but the paperwork overweighs!
