    Contamination worry??

I recently started to get more interested in the paper side of collecting, photos and award documents etc.
I have a few items that really hold my interest and I would like to either store these or display them.
I found a large, handsom A3 plastic pocketed display book that is perfect in every way, but the sleeves smell of plastic and after displaying some items in this book, today after having my docs in it for a week, I noticed the documents are taking on the smell. Will these docs be contaminated in any way?
I have removed them all from the folder in the hope no damage has been done.
What is the best way to display documents to get the best out of them?
All your comments are very very welcome.

    kind regards John

You could also use old fashion picture/photo albums with non stick sleeve-type separations between the pages...These albums are available with acid free paper.I guess it depends how you want to keep or display them....
    Cheers, Steve

        olfactory intuition

        hmmmm.
        interesting point as to smell....
My archival safe Mylar plastic has basically no smells. But I remember how the old plastic sheets smelled...and I have been using plastic covers for 35 years....In a way, I suspect the stronger the smell the worse the plastic.
By the way, that smelly plastic smell (technically called off-gassing) is not only bad for photos, etc. but also bad for human health, as typically it gasses off of the cheapest and most unstable type of plastics.
To think I used to put comics worth 5000$ (Fantastic Four issue #4, ) in those old time bad plastic covers
