    Wedding edition Mein Kampf question

I just picked this up and was wondering if anyone knows what the emblem on the front cover is for. I've seen many of these with no emblem.

The crest is for the city of munich. That nazi eagle was not used above center on the crest ...except during the third reich period. Prior to, and after it was slightly different, but still except for the eagle much the same . Is there an inscription inside you can show. I posted a copy given for a wedding gift previously, but no crest embossed on the front of the copy i have, but has a handwritten dedication inside with an official stamp. This book is in very good condition.

Thank you for the information. Someone has filled out the date inside but there is no name or stamp where you would normally see the dedication.

these were often given to newly-weds at the Standesamt where they were married. In smaller cities the Bürgermeister personally could present the Hochzeitsausgabe of the Mein Kampf, but in a larger city, like Munich the officials in the Standesamt would have done so - unless the person getting married was of importance. In Germany you get married two times, the official wedding at the Standesamt and then at the church of your choice (a Party member would in most cases have not done the church wedding!).
Here in Germany the book would only be considered to be in average condition as these were rarely read and can be found in near mint condition. Does it still have the cardboard protective cover that came with them normally?

That's an interesting bit to know. Thanks!

No problem, they are unfortunately not of much value as they are fairly common, but they have a higher value with the city symbol like the one you have.

Good to know. For not having much value I'm amazed at what they go for on Ebay. I've seen them sell at well over $200. And I see people asking as much as $400.

I just saw a seller from Germany get $230 for his copy. It was in pretty good shape and had a different city symbol on the cover.

I have seen personalied versions signed by himmler sell in the tens of thousands, but it has to be someones signature famous to someone famous as a presentation, so lets not think all copies are 2 to 400. They do go for astronomical prices if as i stated above. There was an auction in arizona within the last ten years where one went for like 25Gs.(in the usa G's are slang for a thousand dollars , G :roman numeral for 1000., like L=50., or C note =100.) At auctions sometimes someone wants something so bad, price is no object, but other than that, most times they do go for much less, as luft56 stated. I suggest to buy copies as often as you can for future investments, as I dont honestly believe they are going to drop in price in the future , as I am also suprised at how popular they are becoming. This book shown has been well cared for , whereas....my book was read so much the cover is very worn on the leather backs edges. The signatures in any of these book, if any.... really determine values.

I saw another copy on Ebay just recently that didn't sell. It had a reserve and the high bid was over $300 I think. Anyway, this book looked almost new! I'd be hard pressed to find anything wrong with it.

It's a question of availability and demand. And in Germany these are finally being brought out of the closets. So standard editions do not sell too well. But special editions still fetch good money.

The guy is from Poland and just asking way too much. And then again, I wonder why copies being posted with item location Germany tend to receive higher bids than others ?

Ahhh, you saw it too. I wondered that too but then figured that maybe it's just because it's in Germany. That way they can say, "This came right out of Germany." I mean, my book did too at some point. So, what's the big deal?
