Erich Handke get his apprenticeship 1941/42 as Borfunker and joined Oct. 1942 as Gefreiter the 12./NJG 1.
He get his first 14 partnership victories with Feldwebel Georg Kraft
                († 17/18.Aug.1943).
After Georg Kraft was killed in action, Handke used to fly with
Karl-Heinz Scherfling (2 partnership victories) and
Heinz Wolfgang Schnaufer (5 partnership victories)
till he finally found his "driver" in Martin Drewes.
He joined ca.1944 Drewes as Bordfunker. A great unity grows till the end of war.
