Which Geschwäder was this Ju-88 from?

    Hello gents,

I've found some nice snaps from a JU-88 chrashed very close near my town on mai 10 1940. Three of the four members where killed during the emergency landing when taken down by the Dutch anti aircraft artillery. I understood (LW is not really my cup of tea) that by the emblem on the side of the plain, it's possible to tell which geschwäder/unit it belonged to. Can anyone help me out on this one?

A Sad photo in that a Crew member can be seen seated still in the cabin! I have seen this before over at the LEMB (Luftwaffe Experten Message Board) where this AC was discussed Years ago, I can't remember the details, Sorry.

The background does look like white so i think Hucks is right about the I gruppe.

It's not a crewmember, the aircraft was cleared of the humanremains in may 1940 after the German occupation. This picture is taken by a LW technician in august 1940 when the plain was recovered (not the correct word, I mean: they took it appart and cleaned up the area) and taken back to FliegerHorst Gilze-Rijen.

            Thanks for 'the ID!

                Gents,

I'll try to get the photo in a bigger size. According to eyewitness reports it should not be possible that it is the pilot.

Edit: I enhanced the picture, but it's or enhancing or uploading can't work out both with that program (can't save it when it's bigger and the resolution drop to the quality above when I save it) but the cockpit is definately empty!! There is no-one inside on the picture's shown above, there's some part of a controleboard(?) hanging on the place where the crew were.

I recovered the names of the three men killed, is it possible that someone find name no 4 then... updat comming soon.

                  Hi,

it could be 4D+IT, which crash-landed on 10.05.40 (the plane was on loan from 9./KG30 and operated by crew of 1./KG30). The pilot died of his wounds in the cockpit.

                  Regards

                  Robert

Do you also have a direct link, or the right input for the search function?

                      Cheers, Thomas

                        number one

                        number two

                        number three

                        number four

                        The text says:
Wreckpieces of a german Junker 88 bomber after an emergencylanding. The plain came down on the early morning close to the farm of the Fam. Van Beek. Three of the four crewmembers died. The only survivor was taken prisoner of war. From 3 till 7 august 1940, 11 soldiers of the Fliegerhorstcommandantur [Gilze-Rijen] have moved the remains of the Junker. They were housed by the fam van Beek.

I have the names of the three killed by the crash:
Oberleutnant Von Wartenberg, Rudolf Flugzeugfuhrer (born Jan 25 1913 in Nerischdorf)
Unteroffizier Weiss, Siegfried Bordfunker (born Mar 25 1919 in Girbing)
Unteroffizier Müller, Herbert Bordschütze (born Jul 11 1915)

                        now the URls should work!
