    Wargrave ID 9. panzerdivision

I have a picture taken of a German wargrave in Breda, I'm working on a little project on my city, Breda, but I'm wondering what the German abbreviation S.J.G. Komp stands for. I need to scan the foto but can't find the stupid cable to connect it to my pc. The grave is marked with an name, will try to updat the post with a picture soon! The nice touch to the grave is the helmet on top, a large black german cross in wood and.... the panzercap on top of the grave itself! I know the man died between mai 12-14 and belonged to a subunit of the 9. Panzerdivision.

when someone is speciallised on the 9. Panzerdivision in mai 1940, fall gelb let me know, I've got some unanswerd question I would like have answered.

    cheers Michiel

SIG - Schwere Infanterie Geschütz - Heavy Infantry Gun.

Could be a Company in one of the Regiments, or the independent Company Schwere-Infanterie-Geschütz-Kompanie 701.

Thanks Ian, the 701 unit you named, opens other doors aswell. I have a list of every German killed on Breda grounds during the war (excluding the liberation, lots of them ended up in a burnpit back then...) but the graves where not properbly listed and of most of them I only have a name and rank. But some where listed as "701" so that's a thing I have to sort out properly!

Attached is an s.I.G.33 auf Panzerkampfwagen I which belonged to s.I.G.Kp.701. The company was an independent formation but was assigned to 9.Panzer-Division.

I finally did it, and got the namens! Three people died in a landmine accident. I even managed to get a picture of the wrackage of the vehicle trashed by the mine. I guess it's a SIG 33. The guys where indeed from the 701!

            Thanks for the help!

Beautiful photograph Akira. Michiel, do you have a scan of that picture? I'm really interested. Also which question do you have of the 9. Panzerdivision?
