A very nice group again! Shame about the soldbuch. But Angel is perfectly right, often these understated additional letters etc. are the things which make a group really interesting.

I also particularly like the little entry for what he received as a führergift, gives a group just a little bit of an additional personal touch. And he received sekt (cheap champagne) - of course, what else?

From what I know these gifts could be any kind of good food (e.g. chocolate) or even a little musical instrument like a harmonica or just something nice.
But when I look at soldbücher - if it is mentioned what they received it is usually just a bottle of alcohol. I wonder if there are more interesting entries around - oh but this question is maybe something for another thread

Jochen, I actually at one time had an original Führergeschenk box and gave it up to a well know WAWF member who specializes in rations and GD. There was also a card with an impressed eagle and a statement inside. Naturally the contents were gone and they normally were edible or drinkable items as you mentioned.

the family found two more documents from Schaudt, the Iron Cross 2nd class document and the wound badge in gold (for his 7th wound on 27 July, 1944, and the document is dated 14 August, 1945!). Attached is the iron cross document signed by Friedrich-Georg von Rappard.

Angel, this on occasion occurs and this was a lucky accident as often the families will throw them away. I was happy to get two more of the missing documents and if I have luck they may find more!

I know how happy one can be when surfaced some documents that one thinks are lost forever so this make me happy twice, for you and for rescuing form trash another piece of history.

By the way, are you going to Kassel? I will be there a couple of days so if you go maybe we can meet.
