KC Wearer ID

I recently acquired a small grouping belonging to a Gebirgsjäger Unteroffizier. After closer inspection I noticed a KC wearer in one of the pictures. Could any of you here shed some light on his ID, and, if possible, unit?

I might know who it is. I can't tell what is KC wearer's rank? And do you know the year of the photo?

This picture must have been taken in 1942 or later, as the other half and other pictures of this grouping show Skianzüge 42 in wear. Judging by the single rank pip, I would say he is a Feldwebel. He might be an Oberfeldwebel, as the second rank pip could be hidden underneath the straps of his rucksack.
