You know that Kreysing and the 3 GD was in Southern Norway at the time right? This was just when the division started it's move towards the Eastern front.

I did not know that, Thank You!
Is it then possible that the photo was taken in
            Norway?

Looks like it yes. Seems to be Generalleutnant in the photo and he was promoted to that rank in July '42. The division was in the Lillehammer, Gudbrandsdal area at the time.

Forgot to mention that the local Newspaper Fjuken had an article on this maneuver, where some of the photos were used, 25. September 2008.

I still have a pdf copy of this article. Quite good.

Could be, since they end the manouver in August 1942, and I it would have taken them some time to get the men and equippment out of the area.

By the way, they started iit in May 1942.

                          Without question.

The movement orders for the division are dated 19th August so they weren't out of the country until well after that date.

Excellent Tore, so was the photo taken in the Jotunheimen area?

I also have a 3 GD album with photos from this exercise.

Hello Simon. Yes the photo si taken not fra from Gjendesheim - in Sjodalen I belive.

In Leirungdalen and Svartdalen you still can find traces of them. At the garbage dump we found plates, forks and at the camp site even a bayonet and a woundedbadge in black. My son picked up 3 Reichmarks and the total amount of 4 kroner and 17 øre in Norwegian coins. All laying there visible to everyone.

This was just after the snow melted this summer.
