period german army book covers thread

hopefully this thread lets members show off period book covers, etc, connected to the wehrmacht.

here's one...over 300 pages of fine war correspondent pictures, maps, beautiful art and sketches, written accounts and a forward from 'the lackey' himself.

    ...or not.

...hang on a minute. let's dig out the cover.

there, that's more like it. part-covered to protect its integrity.anyone seen other years' editions of this book, if it existed? odd gear the infantryman has...'music pouch'?, austrian shovel, mg34 held by the barrel. tommies being marched off into captivity rear left, at the end of a bayonet, past smoking ruins. they dont make them like this anymore.

this is what the magazine holder for "Die Wehrmacht" looked like (for barber shops, bars etc.) Sorry, the photo came in upside down!

interesting book sale link. i could find the magazines there only, about 20 euros each. the hooked wooden holder is a find!
i imagine the 1940 book that starts this thread is a collection of all the articles from the individual magazines published that year. thanks for the share!

while i dont collect stamps, this late war german-printed stamp collector's guide provides a great quick overview of ww2 stamp designs in foreign occupied territories and the Reich. the book includes bohemia and Moravia of course, and i note a late 43 inclusion of the hh deathmask stamp. moments of history popping up in the pages of a book whose subject i normally find bland, proves here quite a surprising feast...first the cover.

...part of the foreword...can any german translators spot Reich-like rhetoric even here, in the field of stamp hobby?

and a look at the kind of stamp pictures included. they have the quality of woodcuts and i find the detail fascinating.
