    BKA document: your opinion.

    Hello,

This image is around since few years now, and I've never seen it on the forum.
I wonder what's the Gentlemen opinion about it.
The name of the soldier awarded is a pretty famous name amongst the Karstjager division.

IMHO it's a good fake and the font is not period.

    Best Regards

Looks like a Photo Copy, of some type?

I'm assuming this black and white scan or photocopy is not the document itself.

The design and type font is consistent with the example pictured in Forman's vol.2 on award documents. What's har to see on this one is if there's an embossed stamp in the left corner.

This is the image that I have, of course it's a scan, as actually most of the documents posted here are scans.
It's not a good scan, I give you that.

IMHO the leaves frame, the leaves themself, the typewriting style in particular and everything in general looks a bit different from Foreman's.
The date also looks different to my eyes (19\2 and 15\2) but they were awarded during the very same event.

What i meant was, the original does not look like this i assume. Yes, most documents posted here are scans, but by the same token, most are scanned in colour.

Is that the only picture you have of the example in forman's book? If so you might want to get hold of a copy. The date is in fact also the 15th and the details are the same. Looking again at the scan on the first doc, it looks like i can see traces of a stamp.

You were saying in your first post you believe the font is not period. Are you talking about the typewriter font or the printed text?

            Hi Simon,

I'm talking about the typewriter font, doesn't look period to me.
Printed text looks fine, or at least the same of the Foreman's.

May you post more image of Foreman's?
            It would be great.

            Best Regards

                  Here's a better scan.

The font is a style you'll see on some of the higher end documents coming from higher headquarters. Prelim RK docs are a good example.

                    Thanks a lot Simon!
I'm still a bit concerned anyway, but just my opinion.

Quite right too. Something like this demands close scrutiny.
