One of my first experiences with death outside of family occurred in Sinai, Egypt. A cement truck went off a pass taking a large number of hangers on with it to the bottom killing and cementing them into the rock. The Arabs were stripping off the gold or anything valuable from the dead when we arrived on scene until the Egyptian Police could arrive. Westerners might not understand it but as it was explained to us, "They dont need this anymore. They are dead and it's of no use to them".

French text but well worth buying, quite a few Tychsen photos in it as well as excellent coverage of Normandy, Mark Bando's updated "In the Land of the Dead".
Sadly a US publisher did not follow through with an english language edition.

These photos are from "Panzers Normandie Serie 44 - SS Panzer Regiment 2 DR" by Stephan Cazenave. (Maranes Editions).
The author also has a similar book out on "Panzer Regiment 1 LSSAH" by the same publisher.
French text but well worth buying, again a pity no english language editions are in print, I bought these in Normandy from the author , very good they are.

Jim , if you have uniforms of his , you are a lucky man , would love to see photos of them.
My email is rcjstewart@gmail.com
Yes the French book by SC has a lot of photos of Tychsen , most taken during exercises which Guderian attended, it is a very very good book I would highly recommend it. Likewise Mark bando's are really very very good as well.

Some nice images of Tychsen that I have never seen before, many thanks for showing.
I was lucky enough to add this signed and dedicated photo of Tychsen to my collection. I believe this was given to his driver and that he later marked the date of Tychsen's death in the top corner.
This image is not to be reproduced in any form without my express permission - or i'll cut your nuts off...Attached FilesLast edited by Max Wünsche; 08-05-2017, 07:16 PM.

What a fascinating story. Well done to all who have contributed information and photos; this thread is really an example of the forum working at its best! I am sure I am not the only one who hopes that one day all the surviving medals and badges belonging to Tychsen will find their way to a single collection; and perhaps even other items will surface - I'm sure his watch would have been an attractive souvenir also. Is there a biography of Tychsen, or is anyone thinking of writing one? It would be a great story. If anyone is thinking about it, don't be put off by all the work! My experience, when researching and writing "Heroes in Death" (the story of the von Blücher brothers and their fate on Crete) was that the satisfaction gained from producing a story that readers really enjoyed makes all the hard work more than worth it.
