To the population of Ried!

The allied military government has appointed me and the other signing persons as representatives of the "Free Austria" movement, to City Mayor and City Council.

We accept our service at this difficult time, left to us as a terrible inheritance of an aggressive (maybe opportunistic? - literally adventurous) and criminal policy. Nevertheless, we begin our work with the strong confidence that the cooperation of all Austrians will make it possible, that the heaviest of wounds, inflicted by the six year war, will first become milder and then healed. The war, which we Austrians never wanted and never was our war, has come today to its end. A new era has begun. Let's all try together through our work to ensure that there will soon be a free city of Ried in an independent democratic Austria!
