    Franz Staudegger or Konrad Huebeck

I have a project that I am doing on Kampfgruppe Peiper and the 1st SS Panzer Korps during the Ardennes offensive. For over a year now I have been collecting signatures. Thus far I have Jochen Peiper, Werner Potschke, Werner Wendt, Sepp Deitrich, Hermann Preiss, Wilhelm Mohnke, Otto Skorenzy, Max Hansen, and Rudolf Sandig.

I am looking to get one KC winner from the sSS Pz abt. 501 and it seems that Franz Staudegger or Konrad Heubeck might be my best bets.

However, after over a year of looking I have found neither one. Can somebody direct me to a place that may have either?

    Thank you,

    Brian

For a little over a single year of collecting, that is quite an impressive haul of signatures which you have mananged to accumulate!

It would be nice to see some of these posted here, especially as there are some very rare examples in your list.

    With regards to your question:

Staudeggar is a very difficult signature to come by. I have yet to see a wartime example and have only seen a few post-war examples in over 20 years of collecting.

Heubeck post-war signed examples can occasionally be seen on the second hand market as although he died in 1987, he was a member of the O.d.R. Again, I have not seen a wartime example.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

      Thank you for the information.

My interest is only in Tankers, though I get commanders when they can round out my projects. I guess I have been lucky with some of my finds. I have projects ongomg for many things, Berlin, 2nd SS, Battle of the Bulge, sPz 503, sPz 502, sSS Pz 102, sSS Pz 101, 12th SS, Hermann Goering Div and some allied ones. My most expensive signatures are of Patton and Wittmann.

I have litteraly spent the last year each day going over many sites that I have found that sell KC signatures, though many come from Stefan Korlin or Andre Heusken, Cy Stapleton or his partner, Bernd.

Would sure be interested if you know of any other sites that sell signatures and to learn what you have in your collection.

I'd be curious to see several on the list also, having seen few originals of several of the names.

What position was Konrad Heubeck in s. SS-Pz.Abt. 501? I can't find him in Agte's book, nor in a listing of personnel of that battalion in the Ardennes Offensive from the Bundesarchiv. I think he was in SS-Pz.Regt. 1; I think Staudegger was the only RK holder still with SS-501 during the Ardennes.

            Best,

Heubeck was a Panther commander(Panther "121") and platoon leader in the 1./SSPzRgt 1.

Hi Troops: I agree that Staudegger and Heubeck are tough. Both of my Heubecks are from the early eighties and are the pose from his left side that are shown in Agte's book. As far as Staudegger, I have one h/written short note, two clipped sigs, one h/wriiten name and address from the same early eighties collection I bought about 10 yrs ago. I have one other signed photo obtained from about '99, although this was from another collector> I know he died in '91. Another hard guy to find is Martin Gross. My samples from him are from '81 and '82. My other SS Tiger guys autographs are: Karl Heinz Warmbrunn, Walter Lau, Werner Wendt, Rolf Shamp, Leo Aumuller, Fritz Belbe, Rolf v Westernhagen, Hans Haselbock, Walter Ott, Paul Egger, Will Fey, Karl Brommann, Oscar Schafer, George Diers, Fritz Kaueraf, Bernhard Ost, Rolf Oberhoff, Bert Fink, Ernst Streng, plus afew others. During those previous yrs, I did alot of writing, and ALOT OF BEGGING. The most amazing thing I got from Haselbock was two original dated photos of his Kursk Tiger, plus very good reprint of other Das Reich Tigers. Of all the sigs I have, the rarest one is from LAH's Benoni Junker. It was from a nasty letter he sent telling the recipient not to ever write him again! I don't trust any of the Bobby Woll autos out there. I have a dated and signed letter from his wife from 1987 stating his bad health prevents him from writing. She did send an old newspaper pic and article with the old Tiger of his and Wittmann's with the 88 kills on the barrel for propaganda purposes. The collecting goes on!!

Would you mind posting scans of Staudegger's and Heubeck's signatures so that I know what to look for when entertaining offers?

I wouldn't mind seeing your Warmbrunn as well.

                      Thanks,

                      Brian

I wish I had a scanner as I would show you all the letters from some of these guys. The letters from guys like Ernst Kufner, Lau, Gerhard Kaempf, Aumuller, Trautmann, Streng, ect make for some interesting reading
