As I have been promising my 15 year old Son a trip to Berlin, and as he has quite an interest in Waffen-SS armoured units; is it possible at all to identify the location of Diers disabled King Tiger in the modern day Schönhauser Allee in that photograph at all?

      Regards Richard.

          Hello Richard,

the "314" was lost in the early hours (around 8 AM) of May 2, 1945, on a German antitank mine near the street light, on the bicycle path of this current Google Earth screenshot.

The "314" departed from the infamous Weidendammbrücke near which the whole "Nordland" armored convoy was destroyed by Soviet heavy fire.
Many Führerbunker VIPs were killed there too.

The crew tried to repair the right Tiger tracks, but stopped on order of Erich Barenfanger, commander of the area (who committed suicide soon after).
Then the crew destroyed some of the tank features, and escaped alive of the battle.

          See You

            Hi,

the "314" was the only vehicle to escape destruction on the Weidendammbrücke, and took an unconfirmed path trip up to the Schönhauser Allee U & S Stations.

            See You

Thank you very much indeed, that really is excellent!

I must admit to finding myself really interested in the 6 King TIgers in the battle for Berlin.

              Thanks again.

              Regards Richard.
