I received a signed photo of the portrait shown in the montage in the early 1980's, along with if my memory serves me, several photocopied pages of information concerning his wartime military career.

I will try and dig these out at the weekend and post if deemed of interest.

    Regards Richard.
Always looking for Luftwaffe Kampfflieger related document groups. In particular anything to Kampfgeschwader 2.

Bayle wrote a book about his service in the Waffen-SS titled "De Marseille à´Nowosibirsk", also printed in germany under the title "Von Marseille bis Nowosibirsk". I´ve read the german version, it was several years ago, but if my memory serves me right I found the the book quite interesting. Don´t know if it has been translated into english, but a search on the internet might do the trick.

      Cheers

      Peter

Andre Bayle survived the war and is still alive living in the south of France. He sent these cards out a few years ago instead of Christmas cards, the photo showing him as a 16 year old recruit at Sennheim.

Sadly André Bayle passed away in the last days, he was buried yesterday.
A great man, may he rest in peace.
