Opel Kapitän ca 1938? Difference = 1.) exposed headlamaps, 2.) a third lamp above the front bumper, 3.) the driver's door handle seems to be at the leading edge of the door, not adjacent to the back door handle.
I thought it was a Gebirgs vehicle, but when I scanned the image, I see the license plate is a RAD plate. Note the Edelweiß on the front driver-side fender.

Sentry in the Loisachtal
This is near and dear to my heart. In the background is the Waxenstein. I lived in one of the old barracks in Gebirgsjäger Kaserne for six months while assigned to the Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) in 1978. Rifle racks were still attached along the wall. The Kleiner Waxenstein is in the foreground and the Zugspitze behind.
This is the old main gate on Gernacherstraße.
Later photos ca 1945 show the building in the background to be two-stories plus a roof annex with two windows. The left window was mine, and I would hang my langlauf skis out the window so I could properly wax them in the morning before skiing to work.

Grüß Di' Guy,
Excellent photo showing a metal cap Edelweiß with a real Edelweiß stuck into the top.
Horrido!
