A group portrait with the Kriegsmarine tropical uniform in wear, recently picked up on German E-Bay. I can't help wondering if it's a small vessel crew celebrating the award of the German Cross to their NCO commander!

My observations are that when viewing the original picture in hand, the uniforms look like they just might be newly issued? Also, as in other pictures showing the tropical uniform in wear, the black leather belt and steel buckle seem to be worn, rather than any kind of tropical issue web belt. Like another larger group picture I have seen elsewhere (where the black tie is worn), there don't seem to be any trade patches, or even awards (except this German Cross holder) worn on those it is possible to see in the picture.

Also, the man behind the NCO is wearing jackboots!
