    Reverse writing

    Hello,

Can anyone help me with the writings? I can read most of it but not the beginning and the placename. First could be Vorbei ... ? Placename could be Mersault?

    P.S.
I don't know who ever wrote Hilsa on the reverse but it is Oberst (on the momen of photograph), definitly, von Gilsa..

    Many thanks

Not so sure about the writing but it would appear to show Oberst Freiherr von und zu Gilsa. Regiments Kommandeur Infanterie Regiment 9, 23 Infanterie Division.

    This guy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werner_von_Gilsa

Ian, many thanks already for the given links and the time you took for them to look up and post thought I know who he is and know more about him then which is posted on the website. Therefore I said it was definitly Gilsa But Ian really thanks for the time you took for me. Hope you are not mad at me for not telling it clearly.

Anyway, I do not feel like publishing yet. I going to buy more stuff from Gilsa so I won't post it now. Hope you understand, thought I am going to send you the picture in a private message. There is nothing special about it. It is not a parade. But it is some days taken after the awarding of the Ritterkreuz for him. Maybe he recieved the RK itself on this date (13.6). He is together with another officer.

          Friendly Regards,
          Bart
