Is this written correctly?

This is a request for help from our native German speakers. Is the use of the word "Eichenlaubes" correct in this phrase?

"Unserem Kommandeur

anläßlich der Verleihung des Eichenlaubes zum Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes

In ewiger Treue von Deinen Staffelkameraden"

In the context of "Oakleaves to the Knights Cross" should it not be written as "Eichenlaub zum Ritterkreuz" ?

I have tried identifying the use of "Eichenlaubes" using a number of internet sources and every time I get no result.

Des

German grammar is more complicated than English by a long shot. The word “des” means “(of) the” and the noun following it get an -s or -es added to it to show the genitive or possessive case singular form. “Das Eichenbaum des Ritterkreuzes” would be “ the oakleaf cluster of the Knight’s Cross” as well but that is not how it is worded in German. Confused enough? If I say any more l’ll have to charge you for a German lesson.

It seems to me that German Grammar is at least complicated enough, to leave some room for discussion
among native speakers !

As I agree with Gerdan that "des Eichenlaubs" sounds better (perhaps its also more modern)
than ...laubes, I would also think that "von Deinen Staffelkameraden" is correct,
as the use of : "Unserem" (not Meinem) at the beginning points, to the fact that these Greetings are from
all his comrades not from one specific person.

But I think we all agree on the main point of the question :
The text is written correct and in typical contemporary German. At least that is my impression .

P.S.: BTW, my former German teacher would be ROTFL, if he hears that I dare to participate in a discussion
on "German Grammar" !
