Oh my goodness!!! Wagon!?? That is one heck of a huge capital W. But now I can see it.

On post #4923, all I can make out is "Bei" [at/by] .... can anybody else make it out?

      Thanks!

Any thoughts for what the shortening Mun.A. stands? Munition Amt, right?

        Best regards,
        Alex

Could be " Munitions Anstalt "

              sign

My first thought was Munitions Ausgabe. Munitions Ansalt sounds more like a laboratory or manufacturing site in my opinion. As this is a temporary field sign it would more likely be an Ausgabe Stelle perhaps.

As far as I know "Munitions Ausgabe Stelle" was abbreviated "MAST" and Munitions Anstalt "Mun.A."

                http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munitionsanstalt:
"...Die auch heute noch umgangssprachlich für Munitionsanstalten verwendete Kurzbezeichnung lautete Muna."

                  beating a dead horse.

In the article I only see Munitions Anstalt abbreviated Muna. The article futhermore describes a facility of great size. The sign is just a small piece of wood in the field and probably means M. Ausgabe written the way someone in the field might write it.

ok I have a few here.

trying to get translations before I mount and frame these.
I don't want to have to pull them out of the frame later to figure out what they say.

I appreciate all the help. for now these are all I have.

I can make out the word "waffen"

on this one I can tell it was Paris in July 1942

and those are all I have with writing on the backs.

thank you to anyone/everyone who can help. I love learning what these say and it truly is a piece of history to have something so personal to a soldier.
