The first page is a memorial page for Feldwebel Heinrich Mittelstorb sign by von Thoma. On the second page--- Feldwebel Mittelstorb died in a truck accident on 7.4.39 along with his comrades Hardt, Bosselmann, Spranger and the Italian Donato. The cause of the accident was a broken supension. They were going from Camp Miranda to the Madrid front and crashed on the Vitoria-Burgos Road at km 269 two km from Castil de Peones.
At the site of the accident a memorial stone was erected for him and his comrades which includes their pictures.
The stone will remain under German care in the future.

Von Thoma signed his name as an Oberst, but that 1939 in Spain. I can only assume it's the one and only later general.

Interesting photo, thanks for showing it. Does it still exist today? A current photo would be a nice comparison and perhaps a view of the landscape where the accident occurred.

What I mean is, does the memorial still exist along the road where it was erected? If it is still there a current photo of it would be very interesting to see.

                          # 4834

I can only start with the first words: " Dieser Wegweiser stand in...die Km dahinter " -

This direction sign was placed in.....the Km behind "

It is a very bad reproduction/pic and difficult to read.

Thanks for your help Gerdan, apologies for the rather crappy 1st pic indeed, i have replaced the picture with a sharper one in my previous post.
The pics description where i bought it mentioned Simferopol ( Ukraine ) but the writing seems to end more in "gol" or is that just my novice eye?

                            Regards, Olivier.
