Here's a group of soldiers holding a captured Soviet flag. Can someone tell me what is written on the flag? Is it a unit flag? Also, there's German writing on the reverse of the image that needs translating.

Basically it states the fellow is under military supervision, has been given a physical for military suitability and is relegated to reserve status 2. No doubt Gerdan can fill in the meaning of this reserve status.

Hi Gerdan, so basically it says Russian flag and that this Luftwaffe nachrichten unit captured it on July 1, 1941. Is that right? Is the flag a unit flag of some sort?

Hi,

I have two photos showing a castle like structure next to railroad tracks. I'm not sure if it's an actual castle or not. If it is, which castle is it and does it still exist? There's writing on the back of each photo, maybe that will give us a clue regarding location. Both images were taken in 1943.

Its not a castle, its an ancient signals tower. Those were built in viewing distance to the next in line, so signals (flags by day, torch by night) could be forwarded quite fast.
