I don't read nor speak the Russian language but could it be that the same text is written in German (page 15) and Russian (page 14) language ? Some elements as the date and "A.O.K." are the same in both.

        That could be it gerdan.

But just to make sure, how can I find out what it says?

        Thanks,

There should be a lot of Russian speaking members in our forum.

The problem is the Russian text is misspelled. My translation is:

The holder of this pay book belongs to capitulated Army (?) - AOK west (?) Прусий (I have no idea what is this) by pact of capitulation from 8.5.45

The German text says "... AOK Ostpreußen.."

              The rest should be identic.

Thus we have misspelled Прусский = Prussian

                      TDU: correct

A 1 and the cipher 2 is set a bit higher

                      Ass(assistenz)-Arzt und Tropenarzt

A 72 and again the cipher 0 and A 1 2 but the cipher 2 is set a bit higher

                      K.V. T. O. U. or D. U.

One must know the meaning of the letters acipher combination (medical meaning)

The first one is a passport of the Kindom of Bavaria, Stadt (City of) Erlangen given for a man named Paul Ludwig SALE, Bürger und Geldverleiher (citizen and money lender), 40 years old. The passport is valid for all German states and for the Kindom of Belgium. The date should be 10 January 1803 but cannot read it exactly.

Thanks a lot! - Any idea of the contents of the letter? A roughly translation would do of course.

                                # 1551 - the letter, only a short synopsis:

The writer had a long silence since Christmas because he had to sew covers/blankets for hoses and in the new year he ad to write the bills.

He is asking for his business, he is talking about the bad weather and the rain last summer where a lot of crop was ruined by the rain.

People in Perlach (the town where the writer lives) have a lot of debts so they need the good weather for the forage for their cattle.

He thanks for a photo which he likes very much.

Some members of his family moved from Mainingen to Nürnberg but this removal cost a lot.
