I read the family name :" Fries " and the place of birth "Edigheim" (today a village incorporated in the town of Oppau near Ludwigshafen.

I read the date of death as 1 December 1943. Gerdan, I agree with you about the family name and place of birth.

I also agree with you. Date of death: 1 Dec 1943 !

Sütterlin is not so easy to read - not even for the Germans!

While the first letter is clearly a "D" the third confuses me, if it is in fact December, there is no letter in the word December that dips down like that, especially since everything else in in pretty basic, standard kurrant/sutterlin script.

The name is for sure Fries.

I also agree the location is Edigheim

It is a normal Sütterlin "z", written with short length (Unterlänge).

If if should be "September" - this could be the only other month which fits - there must be the letter "t" which is really not to be seen. So it must be "Dezember". Hope you agree, Chris D. ?
