Stijn, what's the size of the negatives? Anyway, they sell negative preservation files for various sizes...

One thing that should not be done is to keep them in rolled state. Always keep them strictly flat... (but in many cases you will receive rolled negatives, I don't make any efforts to make them flat, because that would destroy the negatives ).

      Hi Akira,

The size of the negatives very's between 5 by 5 cm towards a bit larger, etc ... => lucky unough they where never rolled !!!!!!, Well it seems that I will have to hunt down such a preservation file .......

      Thanks for the advise.

Negatives of the period are a crap shoot at times. They must not get to warm, cold or wet.I personally do this.....I have glass cut to 4 x 4 inches. Then I use book binding and bind several together, end result is it looks like a glass book,(6 or 8 peices of glass).I put only one negative in each "page".This keeps them flat and away from any contamination.I have a friend who keeps his in a manila file folders and lays stores them on a flat shelf......but I wonder about the long term effects doing it his way.
