    could the date have been writen after Dietrich signed it by the person looing for the autograph?

      No. The date and signature both appear to have been written by the same pen and in the same ink.

        This mybe a long shot but could the pen have been the person wanting the signature and gave the pen to Dietrich to sign then after he signed it wrote the date underneth?

            Very interesting Max. Thanks.
            Your No.1 example (post 7) is the first time I have seen a Dietrich signature with the "T" crossed.

            The 3 original signatures are quiet different to each other (post 6,7,9). This has opened up another can of worms.

              Comparing this 1944 dated signature with a couple of 1933 dates I have, I would feel uncomfortable with this one. But still 10 years lay in between the dates. So can not be sure.

              I am a focussed LAH collector and have never felt comfortable with signed portrait cards. I prefer to pass on the them. No need to live with a lie.
