    Sturmabzeichen document question!

Not big on paper, but I found this very interesting document and I am wondering what it's for? Sturmabzeichen? Isn't that the General Assault Badge?
If so, this would make sense as their is a 3. Stufe of this award. It would be the GAB with number plate 50 (!! !!)!
AND, if both the above are correct, then why is there a notation for "besondere tapferkeit"??
If the numbered GAB's/PAB's were awarded based on number of combat days, why the "special bravery" award?
    What am I missing?

You are right, this is a modified standard GAB citation to award the "50" one, this was not uncommon for such medals as normally you can't found each model of citation so in the field solutions were adopted, I have seen transformed GAB into Panzer and Infantry awards and into TDB ones, also the mention for special bravery could be an enhanced detail by the clerk I have seen also some rare aditions as typed in the reverse why the soldier receive the medal or explanations of the grade he must wear, this in the case of CCC and numbered badges the clerck added below the designation "in bronce" or "in silver" so the soldier knows what grade I ot II really are.

Nice document you have, is alone or come with the rest of the awards to this soldier?

Is it the scan or is it me.....or does the III. Stufe etc. appear to be in different coloured ink and type?

I wouldn't put it past some people to enhance existing documents to get more money....

Any chance of a better scan Rick?

Ian, are you alive? after your yesterday adventure I think you have leave us

Jokes apart, perhaps Ian is right, it will be rare for such an unit to see a high award like the Sturmabzeichen III Stuffe, but who knows, a better scan can help all to clear this, not rare that someone do this modifications to increase the price.

              Not mine...

.... I found it cruising around the internet and thought it odd enough to inquire. There were no other documents with this one. A "highly reputable" dealer has it. But I do not know if it is available for sale. I think more of a "showing-off" as it were.
