    EK I document?

    Hi,

I have had this document for a while. I don't collect these, but because of the interesting recipient I still have it in my collection. It is a certified copy of EKI citation from 1952. Now, for my question... I have seen many EKI and EKII documents, but these never had the words "Vorläufiges Besitzzeugnis" on the top of the form... Under what circumstances would be document like this issued?

Also (pardon my ignorance), what does 1/ Panzer-Rgt. 1 exactly reffers to?

    Mark

PS: Sorry about the red stripes, I don't want to see the document on eBay next week...

Hi Mark. I've got docs with this title but not EK's. Preliminary docs. Stewy

      Hi Stewy,

Yeah, I have seen it on RK and DK citations, but never on EK documents. Perhaps someone owns an example?

Although I am not an expert, I would argue that the document on the auction page is an original...

This "Franz Prinz von Bayern" (correct name: Franz Hans Leopold Maria Wittelsbach, Priz von Bayern) sometimes was called "Zapletal" with his other family name. He was born 1919 and he died 1999.

This practice was not uncommon for confirmation of awards for those lost during the war....I have quite a few that came with groups either as individual citations, awards, promotions, professional qualifications etc.
