Your example is definitely handwritten. However, it is extremely similar to the work of an active European forger who is producing large quantities of "signed" photos. I am not familiar with the signature of von Strachwitz, but, assuming the other example is real, when you compare the two, there are also serious differences.

Hi I found a web site that specializes in signed war pictures some people might have heard of them Heroautographs. Anyway it illustrates two pictures with von Strachwitz hand written signature. Notice that the last letter "Y" is the same as the one posted here very similar signature.

Sorry, but if you examine them closely, there are marked differences.

Thanks for the responses. Can you be more specific about what would give one pause? There are a number of Strachwitz forgeries that have surfaced in the past several years, and obviously one could only make even a tentative determination as to authenticity after having examined a number of examples, I shall try to post some later.
