Wound Badge Document: anyone recognize the unit?

    Hello:

A very normal Wound Badge Document to Grenadier Wilhelm Herfurt.

Does anyone know anything of this very obscure unit: 2./Marschbatl. z. b. v. Spandau????

    Many Thanks,

    Erich Craciun

    Didn't see this earlier...
I would have thought that is a transfer Battalion for shipping guys back to the front line, obviously based in Berlin-Spandau....perhaps the award was made whilst convalescing as there is 3 months between the wound and the award being made....unless he was still in hospital and he was wounded with that unit!!
Perhaps during a bombing raid he went to help people...maybe a bomb disposal operative...or maybe we will never know!

I have confirmed that the unit (less zbV however!) was stationed there:

    Grenadier-Regiment Spandau I
    Grenadier-Regiment Spandau II
    Grenadier-Bataillon Spandau I, 1.2.45 "Gneisenau".
    Grenadier-Bataillon Spandau II, 1.2.45 "Gneisenau"
    Alarm-Bataillon Spandau, ab 19.3.45 Al.Regiment Rohde/Division, 28.3.45 Regiment Sator. Unterstellung: 27.2.45 Division Stab z.b.V. 606/CI. A.K./9. Armee
    Marsch-Bataillon Spandau
    Pionier-Bataillon Spandau I
    Pionier-Bataillon Spandau II
