ID: Same person?

Dear members,

I've attached a photo of which I need a confirmation that this is the same person. I've confirmed that this is the same person but I rather have more opinions. It is for me an important case to know whether this is the same person.

The photos are taken on the same spot but not on the same date. I don't know when the second photo is taken. The first one has to be taken before 10.05.1941. The second can be a difference of weeks, months if not a year.

I would agree with Eric they look different.

The basic facial characteristics on the photo at right, high cheek bones, more square jaw and more youthful appearance set him apart from the photo at left.

This is photo no. 2. You see that the kid has grown and the person became some what older. I think he wanted to join the Waffen-SS but didn't pass, so he went to the Wehrmacht.

John makes a good point about the height of the soldier in the second photo. Since the two images are taken in the relatively same location you can simply count the masonry (brick) coursing of the adjacent wall.

It is actually a little trick we use in our profession when trying to ascertain heights of buildings w/o having actual drawings.
