    KC Rudolf Veiel Signature?

    Hello All,

I am beginning to look through my documents for noteworthy signatures (and will probably be posting more questions) and found this one on an EKII Urkunde. No unit # is listed for the recipient.

Is this a legitimate signature for KC Holder Rudolf Veiel?

    Thanks,

    Eric

Learning from my own experience, it might be best if you also post scan of whole of the Document, best of luck.

Looks OK to me - compare to this one on Andre Huesken's site:

This one brings up a few questions. Overall the document looks convincing, i take it the signature is in ink? It's the kind of EKII that was presented to the seriously wounded.

Now the big question. What is Veiel apparently doing signing something like this in Sept.44? From what's available Veiel was removed from his command for his connections to the 20th July bomb plot, but is it certain he was actually removed so early as the day after the plot?

Peter Hoffmann intimates that Veiel's removal was not re. the July plot in the footntoes to his History of the German rRsistance. See also - http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...120547&start=0

Thanks for these good links - the reference to the signature looks to be spot on. I have attached a richer color scan to try and bring out the blue of the signature and the black (maybe with a tint of purple) stamp.

Now that makes much more sense.
