    ss award documents

I'd like some opinions on these totenkopf documents. My knowledge of these things is practically nil,
Is this TSCHIMPKE's signiature on this document, if so, i have looked up a particular website and found his
promotion dates.(assuming this info is correct)

    TSCHIMPKE, Erich
    (1898-19 )
    SS-Oberführer (W-SS):
Born: 11. Mar. 1898 in Breslau / Schlesien.
    Died:
    NSDAP-Nr.: 1 119 365
    SS-Nr.: 40 065 (Joined, 1932)
    Promotions:
    SS-Oberfuhrer: 9. Nov. 1942
    SS-Standartenfuhrer: 30. Jan. 1938
    SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer: 30. Jan. 1936
    SS-Sturmbannfuhrer: 9. Nov. 1934
    SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer: 18. Mar. 1934
    SS-Obersturmfuhrer: 9. Nov. 1933
    SS-Untersturmfuhrer: 20. Apr. 1933

The date of rank does not match the document.

Also Hermann Priess's rank was obergruppenfuhrer at the time of this document, if the information i have been viewing is correct.

Pics of these documents were posted some time ago for comment and got favorable replies for the signiatures from some knowledgeable members , so im wondering whether the discrepancies in rank may be that the information iv'e been viewing is wrong or there is some other explanation.

I don't know what source you've been using Greg but both Priess and Eicke's ranks are correct for the dates

Simon, thanks for that , I have been looking at a number of sites just from googling their names. With Priess's rank i was getting some references with him as Brigadefuhrer some as Obergruppenfuhrer, (probably at different dates). I was more concerned with Tschimpke or that is, i stumbled accross this inconsistency with his details first.
Tschimpke's date of rank at sturmbannfuhrer is way of the mark, according to the scource i have used.
I know these are probably simple things to look up for an experienced forger and i didn't really suspect there was anything wrong with these documents (and i'm still not saying there is). I stumbled accross Tschimpke's rank structure when simply looking for a picture of him as i'm not familiar with him. This is a link to the website http://www.geocities.com/~orion47/SS...Oberf_R-Z.html I'm not sure how reliable this site is but he should have been Standartenfuhrer at this time. I can't find much reference to him but also in the book "Soldiers of destruction" he is refered to as Standartenfuhrer.
Is it unusual for this type of inconsistencies to occur ? Is this definately Tschimpke's signiature ? Would Tschimpke be the one who normally signed the eastern front documents? I have no idea.
              thanks
              Greg

It's not Tschimpke's sig. Secondly, be aware that the date seen on Ostmedaille docs is not the date the document was typed up and issued. Sometime it can be anything up to a couple of years after the actual date the award was granted.

Yes, the 'ABR' is very reliable although it's better for the other three services rather than SS

                  I'm just wondering.
If it's not Tschimpke then who could it be?
