    SS Collar Tabs

I was looking through my photos and I stumbled upon this. If you look at the officer sitting to the left of the table does it look like he has SS collar tabs? Everything else about the photo screams Wehrmacht, but those tabs look like SS. Totenkopf actually. Perhaps Totenkopf tank skulls. Thanks for comments, Mansal

Is it just me or is there a skull below what looks like an army eagle and above the wreath on his visor cap? I don't know but could it relate to something calvary?

He's an NCO and he's Heer, you can see his breast eagle and he's clearly wearing a Heer NCO's cap. The collar tabs are interesting and i wonder if he's using panzer tabs?

Those were my first thoughts, considering the rest of the photo.

          Interesting Mansell.

          Thanks for posting.

Prehaps you could crop scan his head and shoulders..

          Cheers,
          John.

IMO he is wearing what looks like a very short light weight tunic non-standard tunic (ie. field-made) with only two breast pockets and regular panzer tabs you would normally see in the wrap. I think he also is wearing a panzer skull on his hat.

What I find kind of amusing is, there are four stages of dress in this photo. The guy sitting on the tank has shorts and no shirt on, the other guy at the table has only his undershirt on, the guy with his back to the camera has his tunic on and the NCO has his hat, tunic, marksmanship lanyard and probably his medals on as well.

Interesting, almost impossible to increase size without sacrificing details, unfortunately.

There's actually 2 Hotchkiss H38s in the photo. Wonder what the unit is?

As do I. I'll take it out of my archive to take another look at the back. I hope I missed a unit number the first time. This is quite an interesting photo. There are some other photos I received in the lot (though they can't be tied together for sure) that have the Hotschkiss tanks, but the men have Panzerwraps. I'll post scans after school today.
