      Yes Hoess did have it and If I am not mistaken he was the also youngest German ever to earn it. He was also one of the youngest ever Feldwebels and one of the youngest to get both the ICII and ICI.

      All this before his18th birthday.

      At 18 he lead his cavalry unit from Turkey back overland to Germany.

      I think this would be only a semi complete list as in the pic above he has the old campaigners chevron

      * Iron Cross 1st Class (World War I)
      * Iron Cross 2nd Class (World War I)
      * Baden Military Bravery Medal (World War I)
      * Honour Cross for Combatants 1914-1918
      * Hungarian War Service Medal for Combatants 1914-1918
      * Turkish War Medal (World War I)
      * Silver Wound Badge (World War I)
      * Baltic Cross 1st Class (Freikorps)
      * Baltic Cross 2nd Class (Freikorps)
      * SS 8 year Long Service Decoration
      * War Merit Cross (2nd Class with Swords)
      * SS Honour Ring
      * SS Honour Sword

      I think he would of had the blood order and the Nazi-party service award and the 12 year and 4 year SS to boot and the KVK 1st class but these I am not sure of.

        Sounds like a very interesting project, Anil. I would like to read it when you are through, especialy on any Turkish military influence on the German military. I just read a very good book about Britain's Mesopotamian campaigns and it was clear that the Brits did not have a very high opinion of Turkish military prowess.

              I think it improved somewhat after the Turks kicked the living sh1t out of them at Gallipoli and threw them back into the the sea.

                  I know this is off-topic - and forgive me, please - but reading this thread and the above post in particular I cannot help but thinking about one of my favorite songs about war, Eric Bogle's "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda".
                  Most of us here will know it, I guess, but for those who don't:

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG48Ftsr3OI

                  And how well I remember that terrible day
                  How our blood stained the sand and the water
                  And of how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay
                  We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter.
                  Johnny Turk he was waiting, he'd primed himself well.
                  He shower'd us with bullets, and he rained us with shells.
                  And in five minutes flat, he'd blown us all to hell
                  Nearly blew us right back to Australia.

                          I think a BB&Co recently sold on the Estand for USD200.
                          Stars from other manufacturers will go for a lot more The one pictured above does not seem to be a BB as the end of the vertical pin protrudes slightly near the button.
