Map on cloth backing

Has anyone seen one of these before? It was with my grandfather's items. It is a map on cloth backing. Looks to be German script on the front. It is of the Rochlitz area.

One section has been outlined in red to the west of Rochlitz. This is the direction my grandfather's division approached from.

I'd say it was rather a common practice.

Here are a few photos from my collection, from the estate of Oberst Graesemer, a Ritterkreuzträger of 7.Panzer-Division.

Thanks for sharing your pics. Were these maps distributed this way or made at the unit level? Do yours have a stamp on the front? I'll try and post a scan of the stamp when I get home tonight.

The stamp reads: Bibliothek der Deutschen Oberschule Rochlitz i. Sa. (Rochlitz in Saar)

Looks like it is from the school library (and the map is of the area where the school is!)...

My maps carry no such stamps, except for the ownership stamp (Glaesemer's).

No information regarding if they were systematically delivered to officers, sorry.
