Compare:
Iron Cross second class document from 1940 - Pionier Bataillon 12 - 12. Infanteriedivision (at the time in Belgium)
with the
Iron cross document first class from 1942 - Pionier Bataillon 102 - 102. Infanteriedivision (at the time in Rshew)
what are the odds that these two documents are written with the same typewriter?

Legitimate questions Naxos.
The one type of award document you encounter more spelling mistakes and bizarre unit abbreviations are from rear area hospitals, just like this one. This is nothing uncommon.
The date on the ostmedaille doc is the date the award was published in unit order, not when he was actually awarded the doc which could be years later, look at the recently posted LSSAH grouping to see another example.
The EKI and II docs are not written on the same typewriter, raised uppercase letters are also common.Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
