Göring portrait question

When I compare the ears of the two images, they look different leading me to the conclusion these are not the same person. Tough call.

the ears are not the same because I had to flip the pictures horizontally for comparison - showing the right ear on the left image and the left ear on the two others.

You are talking about at least 20 years and quite a few pounds difference. I think that it's quite possible that it's a young Göring. What's the source?

the source: It came it with a group of pictures (portraits) of WWI officers - on name - I thought it looks like HG - I could be wrong

I suppose we'll never know for sure, but the chances are that if it came as an anonymous portrait in a group of photos, it won't be him. If it is Göring, it's a real beauty.

unless Goering had a chin extension operation at a cosmetic surgeon, as a reward to himself for flying service in the great war, etc, then that initial pic aint him imo.

I read that the ear is the most reliable identifier and they all look the same to me. I think that is HG. I really enjoy these dicussions.

You should see the photos of my father....as a young man and as a middle aged man. There is a marked difference in the shape of his chin as a result of weight gain. Very similar to these pics. Maybe my father was Göring!!?

Well that's easily explained. Camera angle and the fact that the comparison photo has been reversed. We could go on like this forever, but I am satisfied to say that it might and might not be Göring. Whatever, it's still a lovely portrait.
