here is an uncommon combination. This soldiers has shoulder boards with Nr. 17 for the IR17, and he wears the tradition skull of the KR5

It is the second time I see such combination, unfortunatly I lost the former pic I had in my files

Uniforms and traditions vol.2 states that an order dated 10th Feb. 39 ordered the replacing of the Brunswick deaths head with this Prussian pattern for IR 17.

thanks for the input. I read it again, and you're right, I didn't noticed that sentence before.
It seems that my guy was one of the very few ones who respected regulations....
