Time difference between an act, and the award document

    Hello Gents,

I have the Iron Cross First Class to Knights Cross recipient Horst Quednau. His Second Class award document is dated September 11, 1940, and his First Class is dated September 21, 1940.

Am I to assume that as a member of KG 27 flying Heinkel 111s, that he would have won these awards during the Battle of Britain? Is the time difference between the act, and the date on the document short enough for this to be possible? Poor Horst made it until January 1, 1945 before his luck ran out.

    Cheers,

    Bill

Yes they will have been for the BoB and the lead up to it from July. In this case i'm sure the time frame between deed and award will only have been a matter of days or a week or two.
