Interesting "in remembrance of our time" photo-dated 1938 but the snapshot was taken almost certainly in 1939 or 1940.

The family name is "Gotthilf" but the first name is difficult, possibly Josef

Maybe "Sohn" (son) and written for his mother.

Gotthilf is also a first name.
