They look OK to me but not seen too many original ones!

Can you show them stamped on paper? or have you done this already?

Hi Ian, I have not shown them on paper. I actually bought a whole batch of stuff and quite a few of the ones I posted were fakes so I took the whole batch back but they let me come in and photograph the stamps because I really liked them and if they are real I was interested. While they were in my posession my friend and I stamped up a piece of paper with them so I will go and see if that piece of paper is still at his house. I should have posted this in the first thread about these stamps I made, on that one (I had no photos at the time) the description I gave made some people comment that they suspected them of being polish fakes, and somebody posted a picture of a real on that looked WAY different than these do. You might want to look there or perhaps combine the two threads. My mistake!
          Thanks Much Ian, Sal

            Just my opinion...

1 and 2 and 4, I do not like. I know that 2 is a fake. I know there were legions of stamps, however I have seen quite a few of the recent fakes, made to look old.

I hope you have not purchased these stamps.

            Erich

              Stamps

Hi, just back from a week in Germany these evening.

No surprise for me, even without the photos I told you that I didn't trust these stamps, seeing them now, all I can say to you is SORRY, BUT THEY ARE FAKES.
              Made in the east.
Note again the wooden handles, and more important the wrong lettertype that is used. Just fantasy-stamps.

              yours Eric-Jan Bakker

Hi Eric, I believe you, but as a begginer would you tell me more? have you seen this type before and what is the correct letter type? How do we know what originals look like? The more you can tell me the better for my learning how to detect fakes. I don't own these so I'm not hoping to make them real, just very curious.
                Thanks Much, Sal

Hi Ian and all, I found the paper that my friend and I stamped up before I returned these. Here are some pics, sorry we went wild so there is some overlap of stamps. They were hard to get images on paper when we were stamping.

                    Hi Sal,

As you have mentioned the other thread I will post a picture of a real stamp.

                      Thanks Pascal,
I should have posted all this in that thread. The minute I did it I realized what a blunder I made. Glad to have your picture here. I wish others would post pictures of more stamps so we can see the different types! Do you know what yours is for?
                      Best Wishes, Sal

This is a stamp of the "Finanzamt" or tax office. I presume the 4 means district 4 which I think is Aachen Land und Monschau, although I’m not sure of Land as I live near those places and I have never heard of Land. Maybe somebody can help me out here ?

As you can see this is not a very exciting stamp so there is no reason to fake this stamp. I bought this stamp from an antique dealer at a fleamarket near those places mentioned on the stamp which makes it al fit together.

"Land" is simply German bureaucratese for "outlying district". It is still used today in various bits of public administration as the opposite of "Stadt". So, you would have something like "Aachen-Stadt" meaning the urban centre and "Aachen-Land" meaning the various little villages and so on that surround it.

Great Andy. Thanks for explaining Land to me. Never knew that, so I learned something new today. All makes sense.

                              Thanks again,
