Still no luck with the Unit! Does anyone on this Forum live close enough to this cemetery to be able to send me a photo of his grave? I would be most grateful.

Andy,

The Erkennungsmarke has the Mob Nr. 63125 which will give you the unit when his dog tag was issued at least! May or may not be the unit he was with when he was killed.
I am not at home to give you the Mob Nr. currently.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to say but Mob.Nr. 63125 was a general training unit entry for Fsch.Jg.Ausb.Rgt. 1, however to be sure of his unit I need a suffix A-D to say which Company he was in.

So all we can confirm is his training unit was either in Salzwedel, Stendal or Gardelegen.
