    question about death cards

I have gotten into collecting death cards, sterbebild, etc. And i have the opportunity to purchase a death card that looks pretty good. However a death card attributed to the same man is currently listed on another website...the small folds and stains do not match so it is not a flat out copy, however i was wondering, would you bet it is genuinely another issue of the same death card, or that someone has decided to rip me off?

    Brandon,
It is very possible that it is an original death card. The families would print up possibly hundreds of the cards to hand out during the church memorial and to friends and family. Over the years many get lost and thrown away but many survive. I have seen quite a few of the death cards that I own popping up on ebay every now and again.

As Steve mentioned, families would print tons of these cards. It's hard to tell whether you are being ripped off or not. Depends what all is on the deathcard really.

I've had thousands of Death cards but traded most the them off to a good friend who also has caught bug. The more high profile Death cards (highly decorated) are most likely to be copied. The fakers don't bother with the common Death Cards. Why don't you post your Death Card....who knows some of the other members might have the very same one.

I also agree that many Death Cards were given out....left in the Church where those who attended the memorial service can pick them up and usually place them in their bibles. The family also sent them out to friends and family who could not attend the service. Bill

ive gotten a few good ones over the past couple of days. I will definitely post them as soon as they arrive. My most anticipated one has got to be one of a young sailor killed on the battleship Tirpitz. The others are casualties of Stalingrad.
