U78 Crew Signatures

Hi All.

I just picked this up at a used book store today. I was looking in the German language book section and found this old book, copyright 1941. It appears to be a book dedicated to the sub captain of U-78, signed by his crewmembers, Christmas 1941.

Can anyone tell me about the history of U78? Did they survive the war? What type sub, etc? Who was OBLT Majowski?

Because U-78 was a submarine used for training, and by that did have several commanders and crews, it will be hard to find or make a complete crewlist.
