knights cross document parody from german soldiers.

the document pictured, from a german military home in russia, tangeren, 1943, obviously took some effort and time, all to honor sister paula marie, the head of the heim. it refers to her high medal, with cooking pot and crossed spoons, which she would have to wear for the following day. note also the identification of the main signer, russen haueptling, russian chieftan - an earlier version of indian country.

notice the name of the order, the fried potato order zum halse heraus, a play on the knights cross being a neck order - hals - and halse heraus, eating so much it is coming out your throat. its a good thind they had a sense of humor in 1943, and i hope the good sister survived the retreat.

I love these unofficial 'awards' they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes for all sorts of things but this one is about the most tongue in cheek effort i've yet seen.

Tongeren by the way is in Belgium
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.
