Please help with Rommel signed card

    Hello fellows,

I got this Rommel card with a signature.
I'm not sure if this is an original signature or if it is a print.

Please tell me what you think about it.

    Best regards,

    Joerg

It appears to be stamped, unfortunately.
        Best Regards

          Hello Adem,

          are you sure?

For me it looks more like a original handsign.

Please look at the new scans - i marked some points where you can see the ink brighter and the background shining through. Specially at the top of some letters and in the middle of lettering.
That's typical for a sign made with a stylograph IMO.

          Best regards,

          Joerg

This is a printed or stamped signature in my opinion. The light areas indicated by Joerg are indicative of the ink surface being lifted away from the face of the photocard. There are no crossovers and signs of ink flow are not present. Both are always evident in examples handwritten by a nib or stylograph.
Sorry, Joerg, but Adem is right.
              Regards,
              Max.

                Rommel - autograph

Hi, I am afraid I have to share the other contributors' opinion that this is indeed a stamped signature. It is most striking at the first bit of the signature and the magnifications strikingly enhance the rubber stamp effect. I am adding two of my collection and one (the small one) as a comparison. The first two were examined and confirmed as genuine by a chap working for a German auction company in Munich and the small picture (also Willrich, which featured in Hermann Historica's 2007 catalogue was described as a "gestempelt" (rubberstamped) and offered for 20 Euro's or so.
At the same time it should be noted that most Rommel signatures were in pencil and the ink ones remain the exeption to the rule.
I hope you didn't spend a fortune and it could be of some comfort to know that we all may get tricked out once in a while... That's the disadvantage of ever improving copying and reproduction techniques.

And the next one is a rubber stamped ("gestempelt")

                Cheers,
                Der Freiwillige
