Officers cap cords on the M43 einheitsfeldmütze...

Foremost man in the top photo plus second and fourth man from the right in the second photo - I havent seen that before...was this authorized officially or just a personal preference with some officers? (these are Faldschirmjäger)

Pretty sure the officer at the top and the one with the Narvik shield is Eugen Meindl
Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

Pictures shows Meindls fallschirmjager. Pics are from the Winterstein Archive. I think repros. You can find Pic 1 and 2 in Wintersteins Meindl Book

No 1 (?) Training Aufklärungsabteilung XIII. Fliegerkorps autum 1942 Bergen (Celle)
No 2 Stab/ Sturmregiment in Russia Mai 1942.

Picture No 3 is not published by Winterstein. Perhaps shows Luftlandelehrabteilung Stephani (? Schwadron) in Italy late 1943.

Nobody seems to have hinted at the issue authenticity vs non autenthicity of the pictures, the issue not relating to the topic. Anyway, thanx for the accurate description you provided.

En passant, the pecuiliarty ain't that clear in the third pic (at the bottom). I suppose I should zoom on the people on the Kubelwagen in the bacjground, shouldn't I?
Oddly , nobody answered to the question you asked. No, braided cords on M43 caps and/or mountain caps were neither authorized officially nor permitted unoffficialy. It seems a habit of Gen Meindl and a few others, but I doubt anybody'd have ticked top brass off.
By the way other related pics can be seen here
